The Mancelona Torch claimed a close win over the Laredo Hawks, due in large part to Dewey Graves. The Mancelona left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Graves yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. Picking up the save was Forest Strickland, his 3rd.

Peter Faddeev came through with a big-time hit for Mancelona. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Graves. "It sure beats the alternative."

The defeat makes Laredo 6-2.
