The bats were silent much of the day at Field of the Rawhides. But Pepe Santos conjured up just enough offense to carry the Krewe past the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 2-1. Santos was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Horace Hill picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 4-0. Edward O'Neil got credit for the save for Crescent City. It was his 3rd of the year.
In the top of the first, with the game still scoreless, Santos hit a run-scoring double to put his team in the lead.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Santos told the Crescent City Times.
Crescent City is now 16-5, Squirrel Hill 11-10.
