Ogres Cut Down Mariachis, 6-5
|
The Olympia Ogres beat the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter Jorge Ortíz. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Olympia reliever Jin-u Yong got the win, raising his record to 1-0. David O'Halloran was tagged with the loss. Brennan Holdom recorded the save for Olympia, his 5th of the season.
Ortíz contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Olympia in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Ortíz took a fastball from David O'Halloran and stroked the home run to right-center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Ogres to leap in front, 3-1.
"We found a way to get it done," Ortíz said.
Olympia, at 12-9, sits in 4th place in the Premier AA.
