Mariachis Suffer 11-2 Home Defeat
|
Behind a solid performance from right fielder José Marrero, the Crescent City Krewe defeated the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 11-2. Marrero went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Krewe. Mike Nelson was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 9 strikeouts. The 8th-place Krewe now have a record of 10-12.
Crescent City used a clutch at-bat from Domingo Gómez to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Krewe ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Not much went right for us," Nuevo Mexico manager Allen Carlson said, when asked afterward about the game.
