Miners Go Down to Defeat, 6-1
|
Bob McCann, who is tied for 3rd in the PAA with a 0.91 ERA, never let the Miners get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Atoms to a win, 6-1. The winner was McCann. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was John Rutledge. The Atoms now have a mark of 11-12.
Bethesda used the timely hitting of Mike Sparks to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Atoms ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I loved our energy," said Bethesda manager Esteban Garza. "I loved the way we played."
