Marquette turned a good performance from starting pitcher Pepe Valentín into a 2-0 triumph over the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Marquette Stadium. Marquette now has a record of 15-10 with the win.

Valentín, the Marquette left-hander, went 7.1 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits. He collected 6 strikeouts.

"Pepe was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Marquette manager José Luna.
