Atoms Stick Mariachis with 4-3 Loss
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Bethesda Atoms and Nuevo Mexico Mariachis.
The Bethesda Atoms did just enough to sneak past the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 4-3, at Atoms Field. Bethesda pitcher George Boyce, in particular, had a standout performance. Boyce, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Will Bennett earned the save for Bethesda, his 4th.
In the bottom of the fourth inning of a 1-1 tie, Bethesda right fielder Jacob Cox reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 2 runs. It broke the deadlock and put Bethesda on top, 3-1.
Bethesda manager Esteban Garza said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
Bethesda is now 12-14, Nuevo Mexico 17-9.
