Don Kirby had a good game, but he could not keep the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs from falling, 8-6, to the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles at Experimental Stadium. The Gwinnett left fielder was 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 in the loss. The Screaming Eagles now have a mark of 12-14.

Mercer Island used a clutch at-bat from Rudolf van Kastel to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 7-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said van Kastel, "and then get after it again."
