Riding the 2-hit performance of the 24-year old center fielder Bryan Catron, the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis stopped the Marquette Miners, 4-2, in 9 innings. Bob Ward, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-2. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The save went to Cooper Jefferson, number 10 for him.

Nuevo Mexico took a 4-0 lead on Catron's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Hua Wang in the top of the seventh, propelled Nuevo Mexico to the win.

Marquette manager José Luna said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

Their 13-14 record puts the Mariachis 6th in the Premier AA.
