Crescent City got a terrific performance from pitcher Paikea Hotu, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas. Chesapeake won the Field of the Krewe contest, 2-1. Hotu threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. The winner in relief was Bob Merendino. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. David Adelabu closed the door for Chesapeake, picking up his 7th save of the year.

Ronald McKenzie had a direct impact on the outcome. McKenzie contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Chesapeake up, 2-1.

"It feels good to get this one," McKenzie told the Chesapeake Observer.
