Brandon Whitney imposed his will on the Guinea Pigs from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-0 Crescent City triumph. The winner was Whitney. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Brooks Brown. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rich Griffin.

The Krewe got an important contribution from designated hitter Martin Watson, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a slider to center for a 2-run double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Krewe ahead, 3-0.

"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Whitney.

Crescent City is now 13-20.
