Guinea Pigs Lose By a Run at Vancouver
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Vancouver Vipers and Gwinnett Guinea Pigs.
The Vancouver Vipers knocked off the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 4-3, in USPL Double A action at Vipers Ballpark. Vancouver pitcher and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, native Jean-Jacques Grimaud had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Grimaud, now 1-1. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Bobby Spears closed it out for Vancouver, earning his 10th save.
Had Patrick Nichols not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Nichols hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Vipers.
Grimaud said his team "played with determination."
The Vipers now have a mark of 17-17.
