Screaming Eagles Sneak Past Mariachis, 7-6
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 7-6, at Mercer Island Grounds. Mercer Island center fielder Jared Tomlinson had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. Mercer Island reliever Manny Sexton was the winner. His record is now 1-3. Burt Dickerson took the loss. The 8th-place Screaming Eagles now have a win-loss record of 15-19.

Pedro Cortés was the walk-off hero for Mercer Island. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Screaming Eagles left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Cortés said in his postgame press conference.
