Godfathers Suffer 3-0 Road Loss
|
The exploits of first baseman Cecil Burke helped the Caldwell Chiefs defeat the Pontiac Godfathers, 3-0. Burke went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles. The win puts Caldwell at 4-6.
Ramón Cora had a big run-scoring double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Caldwell leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a changeup from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Adam Magruder and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 2-0.
Burke called the win "a team effort."
