Starting pitcher Mark Moss gave the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles a rock-solid effort. The Lake Ronkonkoma, New York native helped his team defeat the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 2-0, at Mercer Island Grounds. Billy O'Bryan earned the save for Mercer Island. With the win, Mercer Island has a record of 16-20. Gulf Coast falls to 12-24.

Mercer Island got a lift in the bottom of the second from catcher Mauro Flores, who hit a sinker to left for a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season put the Screaming Eagles up, 1-0.

"You can't win if you don't score any runs," said losing manager Neal Davis. "You don't need Confucius to tell you that."
