Yucca Valley Rallies for 5-3 Win
|
Despite a great performance by Huntington first baseman James Reed, the Yucca Valley Yellows defeated the Hermit Crabs by the score of 5-3 at Ballpark of Yucca Valley. Reed went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Yucca Valley reliever Mark Davis got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Dan Pittman was tagged with the loss. Ángel Díaz closed it out for Yucca Valley, earning his 1st save.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Culley Carter came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Huntington pitcher Dan Pittman, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Yucca Valley on top, 4-3.
"We've got a great group of guys," Carter said, "and we're having fun right now."
With the win, Yucca Valley improves its record to 9-2.
