Atoms Score Late to Beat Krewe, 4-3
|
The Bethesda Atoms did just enough to sneak past the Crescent City Krewe, 4-3, at Field of the Krewe. Bethesda pitcher Luis Yánez, in particular, had a standout performance. Baltwin Jens notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-1. At 21-16, the Atoms are currently third in the Premier AA.
Bethesda used the hitting of Jerry Striker to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Atoms on top, 4-3. For the game, Striker had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Yánez.
