Fighting Imps Score Late, Topple Vipers, 6-3
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps picked up a win at Imps Park, taking down the Vancouver Vipers, 6-3. Starting pitcher Robbie Stanley was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Stanley, now 3-2. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Nick Watson got the save, the 5th for him this season.
Nacho Rodríguez provided some late-game heroics for Ithaca. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-2 fastball from Dave McKinney and propelled Ithaca to a 4-3 lead.
Said Ithaca manager Jeffrey Lewis: "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
At 15-22, the Fighting Imps claim last place in the Premier AA.
