Loons Get One-Run Win at Squirrel Hill
Squirrel Hill right fielder Arnie McKnight pounded Minnesota Loons pitchers at Field of the Rawhides, but it was not enough to keep the Pierogis from falling, 9-8. McKnight slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Conner Hopkins. He tossed 80 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Júlio Martínez finished the game for Minnesota and earned his 5th save.

Minnesota used the bat of Javier Alejo to capture the win. The catcher jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Loons ahead, 8-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"We got the victory," said Alejo. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

The Loons go to 21-20, putting them 6th in the Premier AA.
