The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles downed the Marquette Miners, 8-5, at Marquette Stadium. Rudolf van Kastel led the way, going 4-for-5 for Mercer Island. Manny Sexton closed the door for Mercer Island, picking up his 9th save of the year. Mercer Island is 9th in the Premier AA with a record of 18-23.

The Screaming Eagles got an important contribution from third baseman David Acevedo, who in the top of the first hit a knuckle curve to center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 4-0.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," van Kastel told the Mercer Island News.
