Godfathers Score Late to Win, 5-1
|
The Belleville Bulls could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Paddy Wagterveld into a win. Instead, the Pontiac Godfathers prevailed, 5-1. Wagterveld threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Belleville is now 4-7.
Pontiac used a clutch hit from Raúl Marino to snatch the win. The catcher belted a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Godfathers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Pontiac manager John Moss.
