The Alameda Airmen downed the Levittown Blue Dragons, 8-1, at Alameda Field. Stellar pitching by Ray Melton had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Melton, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With the win, Alameda lifts its record to 7-5.

Sagramor Asseiceira had a big 2-run double for the Airmen in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Alameda leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Scotty Baker and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Airmen ahead, 5-1.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Alameda manager Gonzalo Féliz.
