Nuevo Mexico pitcher Rafael Gómez did his part in helping his team beat the Bethesda Atoms, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 6.1 innings, Gómez surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Nuevo Mexico is now 20-22, Bethesda 18-24.
The Mariachis got an important contribution from left fielder Donnie MacKim, who in the top of the second knocked a 2-1 fastball to right for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Mariachis ahead, 3-0.
MacKim attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
