No one was more impactful than Robert Newman in the 13-2 Mercer Island win over Ithaca. Newman, who is tied for 9th in the PAA in extra base hits with 16, was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Jerry Gordon closed it out for his 2nd save. Mercer Island is 4th in the Premier AA with a record of 24-19.

Mercer Island used a well-timed hit by Jing-quo Au-Yong to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Newman said after the game.
