The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles took St. Petersburg pitcher Greg Concepción's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Mercer Island Grounds. The final score had Mercer Island getting past the Thunder, 4-2. Concepción went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 8. Juan Carrillo came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Mercer Island, at 34-11, is 10 games up in the Premier AA.

Mercer Island got a critical at-bat from Xue-liang Ci. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.
