Mariachis Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Miners
The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis and Marquette Miners played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis defeated the Marquette Miners, 3-1, in USPL Double A action at Mariachi Band Shell. Nuevo Mexico pitcher Bob Ashley had a standout performance. Harry Arrington closed out the game, earning his 4th save.

Shi-xian Yong was 1 for 2 with a walk for Nuevo Mexico. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Yong, who is tied for 3rd in the PAA in stolen bases with 7, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Marquette hurler Hua Wang, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mariachis a 2-1 lead.

Nuevo Mexico manager Allen Carlson called it "a pretty good win."

Nuevo Mexico currently is in 5th place in the Premier AA at 23-23.
