Miners Lose at Home, 5-3
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs defeated the Marquette Miners, 5-3, in USPL Double A action at Marquette Stadium. Gwinnett pitcher Jeff Bean had a standout performance. In 6 innings, Bean surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Matt Griffin earned the save, his 10th.
The Guinea Pigs got a big hit from second baseman Michael Frayo. Facing Marquette pitcher Pedro Hernández in the top of the sixth, Frayo pounded a 2-run home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 5-3.
Frayo attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
The Guinea Pigs, at 20-26, have now won 6 straight.
