Marquette Loses, 5-2, in 10
|
No one was more impactful than Bill Barnes in an extra-inning, 5-2 Crescent City win over Marquette. Barnes, who is tied for 7th in the PAA in bases on balls with 21, was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner in relief was Ricardo Fernández. He is now 3-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Rich Griffin earned the save, his 8th.
The most important at-bat for Crescent City came in the top of the tenth inning. With one out, Yannick Bouwman reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run, putting Crescent City up, 3-2.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Bouwman.
The second-place Krewe lifted their record to 28-19.
