Ferreira Shines in 9-1 Marquette Win
|
The Marquette Miners pinned a convincing loss on the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 9-1, at Mariachi Band Shell. Francisco Ferreira was a main factor in the win. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times for Marquette. Pepe Valentín was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 1 run on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Marquette raised its record to 26-22 with the win.
With Marquette leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Greg Fuentes hit a 2-run single off Nuevo Mexico pitcher Rafael Gómez. It put the Miners ahead 3-0.
