Ogres Lose to Screaming Eagles in Walk-Off
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles had to overcome a good performance from Olympia pitcher Clarence Butler to claim a 3-2 win at Mercer Island Grounds. Butler went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Ron Pitts snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 3 innings. He's now 3-1 on the season. With the win, Mercer Island goes to 22-26, while the Ogres fall to 20-28.
Jiao-long Tow was the walk-off hero for Mercer Island. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Screaming Eagles center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Eric Todd, the Mercer Island manager.
