Screaming Eagles Get 5-3 Win Versus Gwinnett
Fernando López, who is tied for 7th in the PAA with a 1.05 WHIP, had a strong outing for the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles against the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs at Mercer Island Grounds. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. López, now 4-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Manny Sexton closed it out for Mercer Island, earning his 11th save.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Screaming Eagles grabbed the lead when David Acevedo rapped a two-out single. Mercer Island was trailing 3-2, when Acevedo hit a 2-run single off Jeff Bean to put his team in front, 4-3.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said López.

The 8th-place Screaming Eagles now have a record of 22-26.
