The Bethesda Atoms defeated the Marquette Miners, 6-3, in USPL Double A action at Atoms Field. Bethesda pitcher Walt Stephens had a standout performance. In 5 innings, Stephens surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Gerald Huff got credit for the save for Bethesda. It was his 2nd of the year.

The Atoms got a big at-bat from left fielder Henry Snider. For the game, Snider went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 6th double of the season gave Bethesda a 3-0 lead.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Atoms manager Esteban Garza.
