Thunder Sunk by Rocketeers
|
The Seattle Rocketeers defeated the Toronto Thunder, 8-4, at Boeing Dome. Seattle was led by former first round draft pick Cortland Talman, who was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Alex Nelson snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 2.1 innings. He's now 4-4 on the season. The losing streak for Toronto has now reached 4 games.
Stu Kennedy had a big bases-clearing triple for the Rocketeers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Seattle leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Dennis Jones, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in holds with 9, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rocketeers ahead, 7-3.
"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Andrew Powell.
