Miners Knock Off Bethesda, 1-0
|
Randy Powell was masterful in helping the Marquette Miners take down the Bethesda Atoms, 1-0. Powell, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Marquette, at 27-24, sits in third place in the Premier AA.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Miners had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the third, when center fielder Greg Fuentes hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Luis Yánez and made the score 1-0, Miners. Fuentes went 1 for 4.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Bethesda manager Amadeo Nardello.
