Rickey Montgomery, the 27th overall pick in the 2058 draft, had a strong outing for the Bethesda Atoms against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Atoms Field. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Montgomery got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 1 hit and walked 1 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs. With the win, the Atoms have a record of 26-26.

Carlos Villegas had a big 2-run double for the Atoms in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Bethesda leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Curtis López and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Atoms ahead, 5-0.

Bethesda manager Esteban Garza was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
