Vipers Stun Guinea Pigs, 6-4

Despite a great performance by Gwinnett left fielder Sam McElroy, the Vancouver Vipers defeated the Guinea Pigs by the score of 6-4 at Experimental Stadium. McElroy was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Derek MacIntosh, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 12 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Earning his 16th save of the year was Bobby Spears.
Vancouver took a 5-4 lead on Jeremy Hoover's 12th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Hoover hit in the top of the eighth, left Gwinnett pitcher Rickey Mitchell visibly frustrated.
"Solid performance from our side," said Vipers manager Rafael Longoria.
With the win, the Vipers have a record of 27-25.
