Chiefs Handle Generals, Nab 4-1 Win
|
Caldwell Chiefs pitcher Elliott Halcomb was in fine form, leading his team past the Washington Generals, 4-1. Halcomb, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Steve Thomas locked down his 5th save.
Raúl Guerrero had a big 2-run home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Caldwell trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a slider from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jorge Santana and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Chiefs on top, 2-1.
Caldwell manager Jorge Agramunt said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
The Generals fall to 5-9.
