Atoms Upend Guinea Pigs, 4-1
|
Bethesda starter Luis Yánez put the Gwinnett offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his sinker in leading the Atoms to a 4-1 win. Cory Valéncia wrapped it up, recording his 1st save. The Atoms saw their win-loss record go to 26-30. At the same time, the Guinea Pigs fell to 30-26.
Yoshinori Murakami had a big 2-run home run for the Atoms in the bottom of the third inning. With Bethesda leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Rod Pritchard and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Atoms on top, 3-0.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Yánez.
