The St. Petersburg Thunder eked out a 3-2 win versus the Olympia Ogres at Baby Thunder Dome. Nobody did more than pitcher Greg Concepción. He was terrific. The win belonged to Jon Ford in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Yoshitaka Shinohara took the loss for Olympia. Earning his 5th save of the year was Ed Wheeler.

St. Petersburg took a 3-2 lead on Wayne Schmidt's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Schmidt hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Olympia pitcher David Brandon visibly frustrated.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Schmidt.

St. Petersburg has now won 3 in a row.
