Screaming Eagles Trounce Atoms, 10-3
|
Mercer Island took on Bethesda in front of a lively crowd.
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Bethesda Atoms by the score of 10-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Pedro Cortés. Cortés went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Screaming Eagles on the day. Jeremy Bush got the win, improving to 6-5. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Cortés contributed in the bottom of the second. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Mercer Island get the win.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Mercer Island manager Eric Todd.
The 9th-place Atoms now sit at 26-33.
