Dominant Performance by Gómez in St. Petersburg Win
St. Petersburg picked up a win at Field of Plenty, bumping off the Providence Pilgrims, 7-0. Pitcher Carlos Gómez was a major reason the Thunder emerged victorious. The Thunder saw their win-loss record go to 27-37. At the same time, the Pilgrims fell to 18-46.

Gómez, who dominated for St. Petersburg, earned the victory to move to 7-5. He was in control the whole game, scattering 1 hit over 8 innings, while striking out 9. Providence batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"Carlos's a gamer," said St. Petersburg manager Terrence Eler. "Glad he's on our side."
