Mockingbirds Fall Short, 5-4, at Hollywood
|
Hollywood beat Memphis at The Hollywood Bowl, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to designated hitter Kharouf bin Hajjaj. He went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Christos Waddington, who is tied for 7th in the PL in complete games with 1, was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-10. The losing pitcher was Terry Ward. Skip Lewis closed out the game, earning his 15th save.
bin Hajjaj contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing triple, for Hollywood in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, bin Hajjaj took a cutter from Terry Ward and stroked the triple to right-center. His 2nd triple of the season allowed the Shredders to leap in front, 3-2.
"Winning never gets dull," said bin Hajjaj.
The Shredders win now puts them at 43-55.
