In a tight tilt between the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas and the Ithaca Fighting Imps, Dale Bernard was the deciding factor. The Chesapeake left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Bernard, now 7-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The win puts Chesapeake at 41-23 this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bob Peters? The Chesapeake second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 2-0. For the game, Peters had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Ithaca skipper Jeffrey Lewis, "and it cost us."
