Weegerink slugs 2 home runs in Mercer Island Win
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles finished off the St. Petersburg Thunder, 9-4. Much of the credit belonged to left fielder Koen Weegerink. Weegerink hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Screaming Eagles. Cristóbal Félix claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. His record stands at 4-4. Mercer Island now sports a record of 40-24.

The Thunder had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Screaming Eagles going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old third baseman Nobuo Kobayashi came to the plate. Kobayashi hit a 3-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from St. Petersburg hurler Sze Wan. It was Kobayashi's 13th home run of the year.

"Nervous? No," said Kobayashi. "It was my time to shine."
