Thunder Rally For Late Win Over Rocketeers

Seattle got a valiant performance from pitcher Carlos Ramos, but it wasn't enough to beat the Toronto Thunder. Toronto won the game, 4-2. Ramos threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Gary Smith notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Ron Murphy closed the game out for Toronto, earning his 24th save.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Lance Slaymaker to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunder on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Slaymaker said in reaction to the win.
The Thunder sit in 4th place in the Premier League with a record of 55-44.
