The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles were defeated, 3-0, by the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Mercer Island Grounds, even though Roy Roberts pitched well for Mercer Island. The winning pitcher was Victor Collins. He's now 5-3. He went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits for the Mariachis. The Mariachis, at 38-30, sit in 4th place in the Premier AA.
Nuevo Mexico took the lead, 3-0, on Panas Rubanenko's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Mercer Island pitcher Ron Pitts in the top of the eighth.
Nuevo Mexico manager Andrés Ventura praised his team's "businesslike approach."
