The inspired effort of Ft. Polk South center fielder Teddy Perkins was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Ithaca Fighting Imps. Perkins was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Darryl Smith, now 2-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Dewitt Page.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jamie Hunter came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Ft. Polk South pitcher Greg Lovell, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ithaca on top, 5-4.

"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Ithaca manager Albert Pérez.

Ithaca is now 40-29.
