Stingers Nip White Walkers, 3-2
|
Pacesetter Park played host to some high drama.
Toledo Stingers starter Mark Garland pitched a strong game against the Buffalo White Walkers at Pacesetter Park, leading the Stingers to victory, 3-2. Toledo reliever Sam Myers picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Tony Hurtado was tagged with the loss.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 2-2, 24-year old center fielder Elijah Smalls won it for Toledo. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Smalls hit a full count fastball from Nick O'Day for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
Buffalo manager Chris Lau said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The first-place Stingers have a one-game lead in their division.
