The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jorge Salas, who stifled the Mercer Island offense en route to a 2-0 Thunder Hawks win at Mercer Island Grounds. Salas, now 4-8, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Ze-dong Jiao earned the save for Ft. Polk South, his 2nd.

The Thunder Hawks got an important contribution from center fielder Teddy Perkins, who in the top of the fifth punched a 0-1 changeup into right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 2-0.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Salas. "I think we're going to keep proving that."

The 8th-place Thunder Hawks lifted their record to 28-43.
