Krewe Earn Late Win

The Crescent City Krewe had to overcome a fine effort from Nuevo Mexico pitcher Bob Ward to win, 5-4, at Field of the Krewe. Ward went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner in relief was Brant Atkinson. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 4 innings. He now owns a record of 4-0. The win elevated the Krewe to 39-33.
The game came to a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Crescent City trailing 4-3, Fred Burton delivered the big blow, hitting a fastball from Alberto Martínez for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Krewe had a walk-off win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Burton said.
