Starting pitcher Bob Ashley gave the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis a rock-solid effort. The Somerset, Massachusetts native helped his team defeat the Bethesda Atoms, 3-2, at Mariachi Band Shell. The win belonged to José Tapia in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Pedro Báez took the loss for Bethesda. Burt Dickerson recorded the save for Nuevo Mexico, his 5th of the season.
Conner O'Keefe drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances against the Atoms. With the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Nuevo Mexico in front, 3-2.
"Bob is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Nuevo Mexico manager Allen Carlson.
The Mariachis go to 35-38, putting them 6th in the Premier AA.
